Job summary

Corporation of the City of Timmins is seeking a Maintenance worker to perform ongoing and preventive maintenance on building equipment and to support events and operations in all weather conditions.

Shifts may vary and include weekends. A Grade 12 education and a valid Ontario driver’s licence are required, with forklift and chainsaw experience highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education is required.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence required.
  • Willing to work varying shifts, including weekends.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative.
  • Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
  • Grounds maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Proficient in chainsaw operation.
  • Proficient in tractors and loaders operation.
  • Capable of physically demanding work in all weather.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-going and preventive maintenance on building equipment.
  • Move office furniture for social events.
  • Install outdoor rink boards, flood rinks and maintain winter outdoor skating rinks.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of work performed.
  • Operate forklift, tractors, snow blowers, riding mowers, and other landscape equipment.
  • Shoveling, salting and sanding of walkways and parking lots.
  • Snow blowing and snow plowing of walkways and parking lots.
  • Understand and implement proper safety procedures in all areas.
  • Assist in setting up and tearing down event tents and equipment.
  • Support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program for operational excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties

  • Move office furniture, also tables and chairs for social events
  • Install outdoor rink boards, flood rinks and maintain winter outdoor skating rinks
  • Maintain up-to-date records of work performed
  • Operate fork lift, tractors, snow blowers, riding lawnmowers, push mowers and other landscape equipment
  • Shoveling, salting and sanding of walkways and Parking lots
  • Snow blowing and snow plowing of walkways and Parking lots
  • Understand and implement proper safety procedures in all above areas
  • Assist in setting up and tear down event tents and related event equipment and assets
  • Required to participate and support the City of Timmins Continuous Improvement Program in order to help foster a culture of operational excellence
  • Other duties as assigned
