Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa, FL, is seeking a Lab Support Staff Coordinator to lead workflows in the Main Lab at St. Joseph's Hospital. This role oversees specimen collection, processing, and service delivery during nights.

You will develop staffing plans, train new hires, supervise staff, manage inventory, and ensure regulatory compliance, with phlebotomy duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Clinical or related experience required.
• Phlebotomy certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating daily operations and delegating technical and administrative functions.
• Develop staffing plans and monitoring time, attendance and payroll processes.
• Serving as a preceptor and training resource for new hires.
• Providing leadership, education and mentoring to lab support staff.
• Monitoring inventory and maintaining appropriate supply levels.
• Supporting regulatory compliance and participating in surveys.
• Overseeing specimen collection, receipt and processing for inpatient and outpatient testing.
• Communicating with nursing, providers and external laboratories regarding testing and specimen handling.
• Performing phlebotomy and supporting patient specimen collection as needed.

Facility: BayCare Health System, Laboratory Services – Tampa , FL

Shift: Nights| 6:00pm-6:30am

Schedule: Full-Time | 3x12s Onsite

Status: Non-Exempt

Weekend Work: Every Other

Role Overview

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience

Required:

• Clinical or related experience

Preferred:

• Phlebotomy experience

Licensure / Certification

Required:

• Phlebotomy certification within one (1) year of hire (ASCP, ASPT, or AMT) OR
• Completion of BayCare Client Services training (3 approved CBTs and 1 approved class) within one (1) year of hire (only for roles not performing phlebotomy)
