BayCare Health System seeks a Supervisor – Lab Facility to lead laboratory operations at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. The role focuses on staff performance, compliance, and delivering high-quality diagnostic services while pursuing continuous operational improvement.

Responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and ensuring timely, accurate test results. The ideal candidate has a biology-related degree, 4+ years in a clinical lab, and Florida supervisor licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or clinical science field.
• 4 years of clinical laboratory or related experience.
• State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License (CLIA specialties) required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory staff and daily departmental operations.
• Hire, onboard, and schedule staff to ensure coverage.
• Conduct performance evaluations and coaching for growth.
• Ensure timely and accurate laboratory testing and reporting.
• Support staff competency, training, and validation processes.
• Troubleshoot issues related to testing, equipment, and specimen handling.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and inspection readiness.
• Enforce laboratory safety standards and maintain a safe work environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Assist with expense processing and departmental operations.

Location: St. Joseph's Hospital – Tampa

Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite

Status: Exempt

Role Overview

As a Supervisor – Lab Facility, you will lead laboratory operations, staff performance, and compliance efforts while ensuring high-quality diagnostic services and continuous operational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring timely and accurate laboratory testing and result reporting

• Maintaining regulatory compliance and inspection readiness
• Enforcing laboratory safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality
• Assisting with expense processing and departmental operations
• Supporting leadership priorities and performing additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or a related Clinical Science field

Experience

• Four (4) years of clinical laboratory or related experience

Licensure / Certification

State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License (Clinical Chemistry, Serology, and Microbiology)
