Job summary

ESS Compass Canada is seeking a Kitchen General Helper at the Kitimat site in BC. The role includes dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas and assisting the chef and team as needed.

Essential duties include food distribution for production, storage, sanitation, trash removal, and dishwashing. Local applicants only; 10‑hour shifts, 20 days on/10 days off, hourly wage $21.25, benefits after 3 months.

Qualifications

  • Valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Good command of English, verbal and written.
  • Experience in restaurant, banquet, or remote camp food service.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including light lifting up to 40 lb.

Responsibilities

  • Dishwashing and cleaning duties across kitchen and areas.
  • Assist chef and team and dispense food for production.
  • Store and rotate food safely.
  • Clean and sanitize, remove trash.
  • Distribute supplies and utensils.
  • Wash dishes and maintain sanitation.

Description

The Kitchen General Helper will be responsible for dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and other areas and assisting chef and team as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dispense food for next day of production and plate individual meals
  • Conduct work in accordance with safety standards
  • Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
  • Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas
  • Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment
  • Washing Dishes
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Ability to work in various workstations including meal distribution area (packaging)
  • Assisting Chef as needed
  • Sandwich Making as needed

Qualifications:

  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage workload
  • Ability to work both independently and in team setting as required
  • Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Previous food service experience in restaurant, banquet or remote camp setting
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Minor heavy lifting may be involved (up to 40 lb.)

Position requirements:

  • Consistently pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
  • Rotation: 20 Days On/ 10 Days Off
  • Shifts: 10hr/Day
