Job summary

COMPASS GROUP CANADA is seeking a Kitchen General Helper to support dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing across kitchen spaces and assist chefs as needed. The role involves food prep support, rotating workstations, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards.

Key duties include handling daily food distribution, wrapping and dating, and assisting with sandwich preparation. Local applicants and shift-based schedule with 10-hour days and 20/10 rotation may apply.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to manage workload.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good command of English, both verbal and written, and ability to follow instructions.
• Previous food service experience in restaurant, banquet or remote camp setting.
• Physical ability to perform duties; capable of lifting up to 40 lb.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Kitchen General Helper will be responsible for dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing kitchen and other areas and assisting chef and team as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Dispense food for next day of production and plate individual meals
• Conduct work in accordance with safety standards
• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures
• Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment
• Washing Dishes
• Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
• Ability to work in various workstations including meal distribution area (packaging)
• Assisting Chef as needed
• Sandwich Making as needed

Qualifications:

• You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
• Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage workload
• Ability to work both independently and in team setting as required
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Previous food service experience in restaurant, banquet or remote camp setting
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Minor heavy lifting may be involved (up to 40 lb.)
