The Opportunity

New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities. The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Instructor, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technician. Position Type: Term to June 2027

Location: Saint John

Salary: $2,454.00 to $3,776.00 bi-weekly.

What you’ll do
Responsibilities

As part of the School of Engineering Technologies and reporting to the Academic Chair, you will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas may include, but may not be limited to:

  • Process Instrumentation
  • Automatic Process Control
  • Automatic Control Valves
  • Electric Circuits
  • Instrument Calibration
  • Other related subjects as required

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

What you’ll need
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A valid Red Seal in Instrumentation with related and recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level.

Professional Skills:

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Assets:

  • A minimum of five years of recent and related experience.
  • A Red Seal certification in both Instrumentation and Electrical.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
