Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a capable scheduling clerk to handle patient appointments across medical imaging and other services. You will greet patients, manage demographics, and coordinate with nursing staff, physicians and billing teams.

Qualifications

• OSSGD or equivalent as recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
• Post-secondary course and recent related experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical implications related to scheduling procedures.
• Typing 40 net wpm with max 5% error rate.
• Understanding of medical and radiology terminology an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for a variety of medical imaging procedures and exams.
• Performs telephone and reception duties at primary public and workroom locations.
• Greets, receives, instructs and directs patients, relatives, visitors and hospital staff.
• Obtains primary patient demographics and billing information as required.
• Follows up with scheduling contacts, nursing personnel, physicians and others to obtain missing information and correct errors.
• Assists designated personnel to expedite verbal or Stat result requests.
• Filing/sorting/faxing of reports as required.
• Data entry in relevant information systems as required.
• Other clerical duties as required.
