A prominent sustainability think tank in Winnipeg is seeking a Coordinator for its Mining Academy initiative. The role involves managing project delivery, coordinating with academic partners, and overseeing training logistics. Ideal candidates will have a master’s degree, significant project management experience, and a strong background in program development. The position is hybrid and offers an annual salary between $70,000 and $87,000 CAD, with a term until March 2027.
The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is a globally recognized think tank with 3 decades of experience working to solve the world’s most pressing sustainable development challenges. We combine deep expertise in a wide range of issues with a collaborative approach to research, policy advice, and hands‑on support to ensure these solutions are brought to life. Headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, we are a diverse team of over 300 professionals working from offices in Canada, Switzerland, and other locations around the world.
The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) supports its more than 85 member countries in advancing their sustainable development goals through effective laws, policies, and regulations for the mining sector.
The IGF will launch a Mining Academy to professionalize and scale up mining skills development through a suite of world‑class national and regional training programs, an e‑learning platform, and a global network of academic institutions, researchers, and mining professionals. This initiative builds on IGF’s regular on‑demand capacity‑building activities to offer a long‑term, structured, and collaborative approach to building institutional and professional excellence in mining governance. It will foster a vibrant community of practice and a research and innovation hub, ensuring lasting and institutional capacity and driving forward sustainable and inclusive mining governance. The Coordinator will support the initiative and coordinate the project with internal and external stakeholders.

Salary: $70,000 CAD- $87,000 CAD Annually
