CultureSmith has partnered with Arcus Power Corp. on their current search to add a new HR Coordinator to the team.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the HR Coordinator will play a key role in managing and advancing the Human Resources function at Arcus. The primary focus will be on core HR responsibilities including recruitment, onboarding, maintaining employee records, and acting as the first point of contact for policy and payroll-related inquiries. In addition to HR duties, this position will provide critical administrative support, such as scheduling meetings and managing internal communications.

As Arcus continues its rapid growth, this role will lead the development of HR practices and systems, offering significant opportunity to expand responsibilities, build new skills, and shape the future of the HR function within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

HR Functions:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies and payroll issues.
  • Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure that all HR documentation is current and compliant with regulations.
  • Actively contribute to and support the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Create and implement an annual performance review process for employees.
  • Run ad hoc reports as needed for HR and operational needs.
  • Organizing and managing engagement events and initiatives
  • Collaborate with our external HR team and counsel on complex issues.

Payroll Coordination:

  • Work with the third-party payroll processor to complete monthly full-cycle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, including Alberta and Ontario’s payroll standards.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from clients and employees in a timely manner.
  • Review the payroll details prior to submission for completeness and accuracy.

Admin Functions:

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Human Resources experience or education (certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree).
  • A strong commitment to integrating AI technologies into their daily workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
  • Familiarity with HR and payroll systems, such as ADP Workforce Now
  • The ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Payroll Compliance and Practitioner (PCP) designation, or working towards would be an asset
