Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking an HSE Student to support our HSE team on real projects. You will assist with inspections, data entry, training material development, and safety documentation while learning PCL’s environmental and safety standards.

The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities within the Canadian Buildings sector. Strong willingness to learn and good communication are essential for success.

Join us as a HSE Student for our Ottawa district, within our Canadian Buildings sector for 4 months starting Janaury 2027. Depending on your assigned project as a HSE Student , you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Responsibilities

• Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
• Managing documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)
• Assisting with the orientation of new employees
• Developing of training materials
• Reviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)
• Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program
• Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements
• Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district
• Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information
• Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforce

Qualifications

• Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures
• Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance
• Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards · The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong willingness to learn

The estimated salary range for this role is$21.25 to $30.00,based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
