Hospital Security Manager

Regal Security Inc. is currently seeking a full‑time, experienced Hospital Security Manager at one of our healthcare facilities located in North York, ON.

Overview

The Security Site Manager provides 24‑hour direction and supervision to all security officers on shift, ensuring they carry out their duties in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner. The Site Manager is responsible for managing the security team’s day‑to‑day operation as it directly relates to fire life safety and the protection of the hospital, patients, visitors, staff, and assets.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise, control and maintain all confidential files; maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity regarding issues involving patients, families and staff.
  • Develop ongoing working relationships with all HRH departments and partners to increase security awareness.
  • Prepare training sessions and conduct hospital‑wide seminars related to personal safety awareness and security of staff, patients, parents, visitors and HRH physical assets.
  • Proficiency with digital communication such as email, word processing, spreadsheeting, and database usage.
  • Key management – direct, control and manage HRH assigned Security Keys.
  • Ensure Regal’s contractual requirements are facilitated as it relates to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Support and direct supervisors and security guards in all their specifically identified tasks and roles, having ultimate responsibility for the contract’s delivery of service.
  • Strong proactive/preventative approach to resource protection.
  • Respond to security, criminal, safety and other emergency situations, oversee and/or conduct investigations with subsequent review of all incident reports for accuracy.
  • Develop and/or implement a plan of action to mitigate exposure and recurrence.
  • Liaise with hospital public affairs, 24‑hour administration, police, staff, public and other agencies on behalf of the security team to ensure public perceptions and outcomes are effectively managed with minimal disruption (e.g., special events).
  • Conduct patrols and spot checks to ensure continued safety and protection for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Required to carry a 24‑hour mobile phone to ensure adequate coverage of the operation; on‑call as required.
  • Manage and maintain a high level of dress and deportment for all staff.
  • Ability to learn new programs and keep knowledge up to date.
  • Respond to all issues arising from security badging.
  • Provide a timely response to all badging‑related complaints.
  • Conduct audits of the badging system to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the database and access levels.
  • Conduct fire‑hazard inspections throughout the facility to identify hazards, document and report for follow‑up action.
  • Maintain records and conduct monthly fire safety inspections of ancillary items – fire doors, fire exit lights, fire hose, fire extinguishers, etc., or have knowledge of where records are archived.
  • Supervise response to fire alarms and drills on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct proactive training and drills for all security guards to maintain a high degree of readiness for all emergency color codes.
  • Maintain the annual training requirements for all security guards as outlined in the Training Matrix.
  • Must be in possession of a valid Security Guard License issued through the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Renewed annually.
  • Healthcare industry and specifically hospital experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience with identification, CCTV, access control and pay‑encoding badge systems.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of legal and investigative processes.
  • Ability to deal with confidential issues and interact with people at all levels within the organization; experience organizing and planning VIP visits.
  • Maintain experience managing emergency situations and events.
  • Maintain exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; self‑motivated, proactive, organized and able to prioritize to maximize efficiency and service.
  • Maintain strong customer focus, openness, results orientation and ability to set action plans in motion; excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work in Canada.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates.
  • Proof of vaccination records, including COVID‑19.
  • Ability to work schedule as assigned and any required times in addition as required.
  • Clear English communication – verbal and written.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay rate: $23 to $26 per hour, based on applicant’s experience.
  • Health benefits available for full‑time employees upon completion of 3 months probation.
