Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Part-time Cleaner for transit stations to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment across public transit facilities in York, Ontario. The role involves cleaning, disinfecting, and high-touch surface maintenance to the highest standards.

The position is night shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, 16 hours per week, with eight openings. Candidates should have strong English communication, attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing and speaking) required.
• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred).
• Floor care experience with machine scrubbing and detailing is an asset.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms.
• Sweep, mop, spot-clean, and clean high-touch surfaces (doors, railings, elevators, faregates/TVMs).
• Replenish washroom supplies and perform required checks/inspections.
• Operate auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Prioritize work orders and report to quality assurance.
• Report issues such as graffiti, damage, hazards or cleanliness concerns as required, then address them with supervisor approval.
• Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks including machine scrubbing floors and detailing surfaces.
• Garbage collection and liner changing and litter pickup.

POSTING DETAILS (Mandatory Information)

Location:85 Industry St, York, ON M6M 4L5

Job Classification: Part -Time Cleaner

Rate of Pay:$20.90/hour (as per Collective Agreement)

Hours of Work: 16 hours per week (before breaks)

Shift: Night 10:30 PM-6:30 AM

Number of Positions: 8 Employees

Your work will include

• Cleaning and disinfecting station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms
• Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and high-touch surface cleaning (doors, railings, elevator, faregates/TVMs)
• Replenishing washroom supplies (toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap) and completing required checks/inspections.
• Using auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Prioritized work order completion and reporting to quality assurance.
• Reporting issues such as graffiti, damage, hazards, or cleanliness concerns as required, and then removing it on approval by Supervisor.
• Performing periodic deep-cleaning tasks such as machine scrubbing floors and detailing surfaces (as assigned)
• Garbage collection and liner changing and interior and exterior litter pickup

Qualifications

• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred)
• Floor care experience is an asset (machine scrubbing and detailing)
• Comfortable standing/walking for extended periods in a public-facing environment
• Comfortable using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely
• Able to communicate professionally with supervisors, clients, and the general public
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, pushing/pulling equipment)
• A clear criminal background check is required for this role
