Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Full-Time Cleaner (Transit Stations) to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across public transit stations. This permanent role offers a 40-hour work week with a night shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM at 85 Industry St, York, ON.

Ideal candidates have strong English, attention to detail, and a reliable work ethic. Cleaning experience is an asset; the role includes career advancement opportunities within a growing organization.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Cleaning/janitorial experience is an asset (minimum 6 months preferred).
• Floor care experience is an asset (machine scrubbing and detailing).
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Able to communicate professionally with supervisors and clients.
• Clear criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and disinfecting station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms.
• Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and high-touch surface cleaning (doors, railings, elevator, faregates/TVMs).
• Replenishing washroom supplies and completing required checks/inspections.
• Using auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Prioritized work order completion and reporting to quality assurance.
• Reporting issues such as graffiti, damage, hazards, or cleanliness concerns as required.
• Performing periodic deep-cleaning tasks and litter pickup.

As a Full-Time Cleaner (Transit Stations), you will help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across public transit stations to the highest standard. This is a permanent full-time position with a schedule of five (5) shifts per week, assigned based on operational requirements.

POSTING DETAILS (Mandatory Information)

Location: 85 Industry St, York, ON M6M 4L5

Job Classification: Full-Time Cleaner

Rate of Pay: $20.90/hour (as per Collective Agreement)

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (before breaks)

Schedule: Five (5) shifts per week

Shift: Night 10:30 PM-6:30 AM

Number of Positions: 8 Employees

Your Work Will Include

• Cleaning and disinfecting station areas including entrances, concourses, platforms, and washrooms
• Sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and high-touch surface cleaning (doors, railings, elevator, faregates/TVMs)
• Replenishing washroom supplies (toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap) and completing required checks/inspections.
• Using auto-scrubber and auto-sweeper as needed.
• Prioritized work order completion and reporting to quality assurance.
• Reporting issues such as graffiti, damage, hazards, or cleanliness concerns as required, and then removing it on approval by Supervisor.
• Performing periodic deep-cleaning tasks such as machine scrubbing floors and detailing surfaces (as assigned)
• Garbage collection and liner changing and interior and exterior litter pickup

• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks (bending, pushing/pulling equipment)
• A clear criminal background check is required for this role
