Position Details

Position: Healthcare Security Guard - Full-Time - MH Extra Coverage- KGH
Site: Kingston General Hospital (KGH) - 76 Stuart
Overtime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Hours: Continental rotation 0800-2000 / 2000-0800
Payrate: $22.61/hour

Start Date: October 12, 2025
Internal Posting: September 11, 2025
Internal Closing: September 18, 2025

Job Responsibilities

• Present a smart, visible, and alert security presence
• Greet, assist, and direct members of the public visiting the premises
• Ensure the safety & security of clients, buildings, and assets
• Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
• Carry out all security duties as specified (including, but not limited to):
• Proactive/reactive interior & exterior patrols
• Response & assistance in emergency situations
• Documenting & reporting of any/all security events on shift
• Investigate routine incidents
• Patient watches
• Parking & smoking by-law enforcement
• Hospital policy awareness & enforcement
• Access control/key control
• Monthly safety inspections
• Additional duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C Certificate (from a WSIB-approved provider)
• Ability to be clean shaven to pass an N95 Mask Fit Test
• Proof of COVID-19 Vaccine (minimum double vaccination)
• A copy of immunization records (Measles, Mumps, Rubella [MMR], Varicella, Pertussis, and TB Skin Tests - Step 1 & 2)
• Completed immunization for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella required at time of hire
• How to get hired in Healthcare — Immunization information is available via Paladin
• Immunization Form
• KHSC Immunization Forms

• Ability to clear a Vulnerable Sector Check (during onboarding)
• Minimum 6 months healthcare security experience preferred
• Minimum 6 months of non-healthcare security experience preferred
• Must be able to commit to full-time availability for no less than 6 months
• English proficiency (oral & written) is required
• Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
• 6+ months of customer service experience is considered an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Stay Safe
• Applicants lacking Stay Safe certifications can opt into Paladin\'s Stay Safe certification program prior to onboarding
• Stay Safe certification is pre-requisite and not paid; Paladin will cover the costs with a 6-month commitment
• Authorized to legally work in Canada

Certification Requirements (All):

• Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
• Valid Ontario Security License
