The Opportunity

<>Your Impact Starts Here – Are you ready to tackle some of the most complex and rewarding environmental health and safety challenges in the industry? In this role, you’ll support clients across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Ottawa and Southwestern Ontario, helping them manage hazardous materials, protect worker health, and create safer, healthier buildings and workplaces.

As a Hazardous Materials & Occupational Hygiene Technician, you’ll join a collaborative team of occupational/industrial hygienists, EHS compliance professionals, environmental assessment specialists and hazardous materials managers. You’ll work in a flexible hybrid environment, with the opportunity to travel to a variety of project sites and office locations across Ontario.

Your Impact

  • Support clients in maintaining compliance with occupational health, safety, construction and environmental regulations by carrying out field assessments, monitoring programs and clear documentation.
  • Conduct building assessments for hazardous materials and designated substances (including asbestos, lead and mould), using hand tools and ladders to safely collect representative samples from building materials.
  • Provide on-site inspection and oversight during hazardous materials remediation projects, including contractor monitoring, air sampling, and site reporting to help ensure regulatory and industry best-practice compliance.
  • Perform occupational exposure assessments for chemical, biological and physical hazards in a variety of workplace settings, helping clients understand and control worker exposures.
  • Carry out indoor air quality and potable/drinking water quality investigations, documenting conditions and contributing to practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Analyze airborne fibre samples and accurately record, interpret and report results as part of asbestos and other fibre-related assessment programs.

  • You bring consulting experience or equivalent education/knowledge in occupational hygiene, environmental science, construction or related fields, and you’re keen to keep growing your expertise.
  • You have a solid understanding of occupational health and safety, construction and environmental legislation in Ontario, and are comfortable applying regulatory requirements in the field.
  • You have experience or knowledge related to hazardous materials and designated substances (e.g., building surveys, asbestos abatement monitoring, mould or lead assessments) and ideally exposure to analyzing airborne fibre samples.
  • You are confident working with data and digital tools, with strong Microsoft Excel skills for managing and manipulating sampling results and field data.
  • You’re comfortable working with hand tools, using ladders, and lifting equipment or sample containers up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • You are self-motivated and organized, able to work independently in the field while also enjoying collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • You are willing and able to travel frequently within the GTA and across Ontario, including occasional overnight stays and some weekend work as project needs arise; you have access to a personal vehicle, a clean Driver’s Abstract, and are eligible for Federal Reliability and/or Secret Clearance status.
