Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) in Canada seeks a Merchant to join the Grain team. Build relationships with grain producers and dealers, source grain, and support merchandising and procurement with market insights and contracting options.

You will coordinate deliveries, meet farmers, negotiate contracts reflecting market opportunities, and work with internal teams to ensure efficient execution and contract compliance. Travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years in agri-business, grain sales, merchandising, origination, or related role.
• Working knowledge of grain markets, futures, hedging, risk management.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts, close business, hit volume/margin targets.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to present information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel between sites.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute grain origination and merchandising plans to support procurement objectives.
• Primary contact for grain purchasing, delivery coordination, and customer questions.
• Originate corn, soybeans, wheat, and other commodities for delivery to facilities and markets.
• Negotiate purchase contracts reflecting market opportunities and customer strategies.
• Meet with producers to identify opportunities and gather market insights.
• Maintain customer/prospect lists with action plans to grow volumes and margins.
• Provide customers with market information and risk-management options.
• Develop strong relationships with grain producers and dealers.
• Monitor market conditions, futures, basis and local dynamics to identify opportunities.
• Coordinate grain movement, weekly orders, and delivery schedules with customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with merchandising, logistics, operations, and grain administration for execution.
