Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited is seeking a Grain Originator in Congress, Saskatchewan to strengthen the Merchandising team by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers and dealers.

You will source grain to meet export and domestic needs, identify opportunities, and meet with producers to grow the business. Travel is periodic; strong sales, negotiation, and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
• Sales experience, preferably in the grain industry.
• Strong sales techniques and negotiation strategies.
• Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to meet sales targets and close deals.
• Willingness to travel periodically.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and high Excel skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel periodically.

Responsibilities

• Identify business opportunities with producers and dealers.
• Negotiate grain contracts with producers and dealers.
• Serve as the first contact for purchasing and delivery of grain.
• Meet with producers to prospect for new business, build relationships, and collect grain samples.
• Provide market information and updates to producers.
• Support the Merchandising team with grain market data.

Your Team

Grain & Crop Inputs: The Grain & Crop Inputs Division connects Canadian farmers to markets across the country and beyond. With a network of grain elevators, terminals, and agri-retail locations, we provide crop inputs, agronomic solutions, and grain marketing expertise to help producers succeed.

The Role

As the Grain Originator, the successful candidate will complement the high-volume contracts of the Merchandising department by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers and dealers. They will gain market information for producers and source grain to satisfy P&H’s export and domestic customer needs.

Day to Day

• Identify business opportunities with producers and dealers
• Negotiate contracts with producers and dealers on the purchase of grain
• First point of contact for purchasing and delivery of grain
• Meet with producers face to face to prospect for new business, nurture relationships, and collect grain samples
• Update producers on market information
• Review grain marketing programs
• Provide the P&H Merchandising team with grain market information from producers and dealers

What You’ll Bring

• Post-secondary education considered an asset
• Experience in sales, with preference given to candidates with sales experience specific to the grain industry
• Strong sales techniques and negotiation strategies
• Exceptional customer service, relationship building and networking skills
• Proven ability to meet sales targets and close deals
• Available to travel periodically
• Microsoft 365 Application Suite (Word, high proficiency in Excel)
• Valid driver’s license and be available to travel periodically
