Job summary

Interfor is offering a GIS Intern position for Castlegar and Grand Forks, British Columbia. This on-site internship is designed for students pursuing Forestry, GIS, Geography, Environmental Science or related programs, with a start date in May and a 4–8 month term.

You will gain hands-on experience by supporting sustainable forest management through fieldwork and GIS technology, collecting and interpreting forestry data, and collaborating with experienced professionals to build practical skills

Qualifications

• You are pursuing a degree in Forestry, GIS, Geography, Environmental Science or a related program.
• You are interested in combining silviculture fieldwork with GIS work.
• You have experience with Microsoft Excel and exposure to GIS or GPS tools such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online.
• You have a valid driver’s licence and are prepared to spend time outdoors in a forested environment.
• You can collect, review, and communicate information clearly and accurately.
• You are comfortable working independently and collaborating with employees, clients, and contractors.
