Job summary

Interfor's Forest Planning/GIS Intern in Timmins, Ontario, offers hands-on experience supporting forestry projects with GIS tools and field data integration.

You will create, update, and analyze maps, assist with harvesting and road planning, and learn from experienced professionals while developing technical and communication skills.

This on-site internship starts in May for 4 to 8 months and includes a competitive monthly salary plus a temporary living allowance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree/diploma in Forestry, GIS, Geography, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Experience with GIS tools (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online) and Excel.
• Ability to analyze information and communicate findings clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel to remote operations; valid Driver's license.

What You Offer

• You’re working toward a degree or diploma in Forestry, GIS, Geography, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related program.
• You have experience with GIS tools such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, or ArcGIS Online and are comfortable using Microsoft Excel.
• You can analyze information and communicate your findings clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• You take ownership of high-quality, timely work and are comfortable solving problems independently.
• You’re physically able to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions and travel to remote operations.
• You have a valid driver’s license.
