Job summary

Interfor in Timmins/Elk Lake, Ontario invites students pursuing Forestry, Natural Resources, or related programs to join as an Operations/Silviculture Intern. You’ll gain hands-on experience in sustainable forest management and manufacturing operations, collecting field data and supporting decision making.

This onsite internship runs 4 to 8 months with a May start, offering competitive intern compensation and a temporary living allowance to help you settle in.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree/diploma in forestry, natural resources, or related program.
  • Interest in hands-on learning in outdoor and industrial settings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on experience supporting sustainable forest management and manufacturing operations.
  • Explore forest regeneration, management, harvesting, and conversion to wood products.
  • Collect and analyze field and operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with forestry, operations, and production teams to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Build leadership, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills on meaningful projects.

What You’ll Do

What You Offer
  • You are working toward a degree or diploma in Forestry, Natural Resources, Wood Products Processing, Operations Management, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related program.
  • You are curious, hands-on, and excited to learn in both outdoor and industrial environments.
  • You are committed to maintaining a safe work environment without compromise.
  • You communicate clearly and enjoy working with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft Office applications; experience with GIS or GPS technology is considered an asset.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and are comfortable working outdoors and around industrial operations.
