We are looking for a dedicated Gear Design Engineer to join our team and drive excellence in the production of gears and our other products for our customers.

This new position will be a gear expert within our Engineering department to support both of our facilities (Johnstown, PA and Blairsville, PA) to:

  • Design, develop, and optimize gear manufacturing processes, including machining, hobbing, grinding, and heat treat

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure quality and performance standards

  • Select appropriate tools, materials, and machines for gear production

  • Design fixtures and special tooling to support manufacturing

  • Implement and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges

  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for gear-related and product issues

  • Stay current with industry trends, gear standards (e.g., AGMA, ISO), and emerging technologies

Requirements for successful candidate include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in high volume gear manufacturing

  • Experience in generated heat treat recipes, metallurgical experience and gear design required

  • Solid understanding of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear cutting methods

  • Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM software, and gear design software

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Black belt certification is a plus.
