Job summary

Peace River School Division in Alberta seeks a Full-Time Complexity Teacher (1.0 f.t.e) to support grades 7–12 with targeted intervention, in-class push-in, regulation, executive functioning and social-emotional learning. The appointment begins August 27, 2026 and runs to June 30, 2027, with compensation per collective agreement.

Job description

Full-Time (1.0 f.t.e) Temporary Complexity Teacher in Peace River

The Peace River School Division is seeking applications for a Full-Time (1.0 f.t.e) Temporary Complexity Teacher in Peace River. This position will commence on August 27, 2026 and will continue to June 30, 2027. The initial assignment will include supporting classroom teachers with targeted intervention, in class "push-in" support, regulation, executive functioning and social-emotional learning in a grade 7 - 12 setting.

Peace River is a town in northwest Alberta, Canada. It is along the banks of the Peace River at its confluence with the Smoky River, the Heart River and Pat's Creek. It is approximately 486 kilometers northwest of Edmonton and 198 kilometers northeast of Grande Prairie on Highway 2. For more information on the town and what it has to offer, click here

Qualifications:
  • BEd, secondary focus.
  • Evidence of life-long learning or continuous professional development that is reflected in classroom practice
  • Evidence of effective use of technology for communication and teaching practice
  • Inclusive mindset and practices
  • Experience in Coaching and/or Leadership
  • School wide involvement
  • Experience implementing evidence-based literacy and numeracy strategies in primary grades
  • Deep understanding of data-driven literacy and numeracy methodologies
Additional Skills:
  • Extensive experience in Jr/Sr classrooms
  • Extensive experience in short, mid and long range planning
  • Strengths-based focused, pro-active teaching and management
  • Effective and balanced assessment strategies
  • Solution focused collaboration skills
  • Community and family-focused, including building the school community
  • Experience planning and implementing inclusive programming for students with complex learning needs
Requirements:
  • Must hold or be eligible for a validAlberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check, dated within six (6) months of your application.

Annual Salary Range: $ 66,520 to $ 112,451 (dependent on experience and education in accordance with the collective agreement between the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Peace River School Division).
