Finance Manager – International Needs Canada

Overview
The Finance Manager plays a vital role in stewarding INCA’s finances with excellence, helping to ensure resources are used effectively and reported transparently to donors, board members, and global partners. This role combines full-cycle accounting, partner financial reporting, audit readiness, and strategic budgeting oversight, all while contributing to the broader mission of INCA.

Key Responsibilities
- Finance & Accounting: Lead full-cycle accounting using QuickBooks (or recommend an alternative for implementation); manage accounts payable / receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll coordination; maintain fund tracking and CRA compliance for restricted / unrestricted funds; document financial policies, workflows, and internal controls; oversee monthly and year-end close, and prepare for audits; manage relationships with the bank and oversee foreign exchange (FX) conversions from CAD to USD for international disbursements; prepare monthly financial transmission reports and consolidated financial statements; produce project-based reports comparing actuals vs. budgets with variance explanations; deliver clear, insight-focused reports to support executive and board decision-making; standardize internal reporting templates and timelines for consistency and efficiency
- Budgeting & Planning: Lead the organization’s annual budgeting process; maintain a centralized view of all project / program budgets, from pipeline to completion; support department and program leaders in planning, tracking, and adjusting their financial plans
- Partner & Program Support: Develop standardized financial reporting requirements for international partners; support partner organizations in improving their financial systems and practices (training and capacity development in basic accounting and budgeting); collaborate with programs to ensure disbursement schedules and reports are timely, accurate, and donor-aligned
- Operational Improvements: Process and update donation payments (including those recorded in Raiser’s Edge); mature INCA’s operations with scalable, compliant, and documented financial procedures; support integration across platforms (QuickBooks, Raiser’s Edge, sponsorship portal) to reduce friction and improve visibility
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years in nonprofit / charity finance
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, CRA charity regulations, and donor financial reporting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and preferably Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM
- CPA or CPB designation (or in progress) preferred
- Experience preparing for audits and managing restricted funds
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Experience with international development, multi-currency disbursements, or partner financial capacity-building is an asset

Education
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA or equivalent certification is a strong asset
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
