Reporting to senior management, this position involves estimating commercial, industrial and civil construction ranging in size from $500,000 to multi‑million dollar values. Types of projects include pre‑engineered steel buildings, concrete foundations, commercial and industrial renovations and new building construction.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Project Manager and assist the Site Superintendent with day‑to‑day management and quality control.
  • Ensure compliance is being maintained with contract specifications and scope of work; establishing and monitoring construction work schedules.
  • Manage and schedule materials, manpower and sub‑trade contractors to ensure effective project completion for our clients.
  • Assist in the estimating process to ensure accurate competitive pricing of construction projects. Accurate work that is completed to meet stringent deadlines is necessary.
  • Assist in execution of onsite QA/QC activities and procedures (pre‑pour inspections, ensuring sub‑trade work is constructed as per specifications, etc.) As directed.
  • May represent the company in meetings with clients, sub‑trades, engineers and architects.
  • Document control for the purposes of quality control and assurance.
  • Timely and accurate completion of construction documentation.
  • Develop construction specifications and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials.
  • Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations.
  • Duties may vary from time to time, as required, to ensure projects are completed to meet client requirements.
Qualifications
  • The selected individual will have a post‑secondary diploma or Certificate from a University or technical school in the discipline of Engineering or Architectural Sciences. A Professional Engineering designation and Gold Seal accreditations are preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, advanced computer skills and the ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines. Proven written and verbal command of the English language is a requirement for this position. Some construction industry experience is required. A valid driver's license and reliable form of transportation will be required for out of town projects.
