I AMGOLD is hiring 2 local team members to support exciting gold exploration activities in the Chibougamau region. This six-month contract offers a hands‑on opportunity to contribute to drilling programs, geological mapping, and seasonal surveys, all while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

As a Core Shack Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our exploration efforts. Your days will include receiving and processing drill core, preparing samples for assay, and maintaining a clean and organized core shack. There is also the possibility to assist with fieldwork, including mapping and prospecting, operating vehicles safely, and helping geologists with various tasks as needed.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and we take it seriously. You’ll follow IAMGOLD’s safety protocols, use proper PPE, and contribute to a strong safety culture by reporting hazards and participating in regular safety meetings.
This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and can adapt to changing priorities. You’ll be part of a team that values clear communication, mutual respect, and a strong work ethic. While guidance is always available, you’ll be trusted to work independently and contribute to the smooth operation of our exploration sites.
This role offers flexibility and is well‑suited to both local and remote candidates. Individuals residing in Chibougamau, Chapais, or Oujé‑Bougoumou will enjoy a consistent 5/2 schedule, commuting daily from their home communities. For those coming from Waswanipi or other remote areas, rotational schedules and comfortable camp accommodation are available to support their participation in exploration activities. No matter where you're based, you'll be part of a dynamic and supportive team, contributing to exciting projects across Quebec and gaining valuable experience in a collaborative and forward‑thinking environment.

To be successful, you’ll need a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Quebec driver’s license, and the physical ability to lift up to 20 kg. Previous experience in exploration or fieldwork is an asset, and basic computer literacy is required. Enrollment in a geotechnical program and certifications like First Aid and CPR are also helpful.
