Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB?

As an Executive Chef, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including ordering food ingredients, menu planning, assisting with food preparation and service, staff training, and ensuring adherence to Dana Hospitality Food Safety protocols.

This position is safety-sensitive and requires drug and alcohol testing and a fitness assessment as a condition of employment.

Your responsibilities include:
  1. Preparing, presenting, designing, and serving high-quality rotational menus.
  2. Supervising kitchen staff productivity and compliance with Horizon North policies, including health, safety, and quality standards.
  3. Leading in staff training, development, and mentoring.
  4. Ensuring all foods are prepared using FOODSAFE and HACCP methods, following safety guidelines.
  5. Using resources effectively and efficiently.
  6. Serving clients and staff professionally and personable.
  7. Applying knowledge of dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning.
  8. Conducting bi-weekly inventory.
  9. Communicating maintenance issues related to equipment promptly to management and maintenance personnel.

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Journeyperson or hold an interprovincial Red Seal Certificate.
  • SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in hospitality/food service.
  • Extensive experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges, with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines.
  • Proficiency in computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, GFS, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of menu costing, recipe implementation, and wage control.
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of all kitchen areas: Hot, Cold, Pastry/Bakery, Butchery, and Banquets handling large groups.
  • Effective leadership style, positive personality, and good listening skills.
