Position Overview

As an Electrical Superintendent, you will play a significant role in the success of Kiewit. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple Foremen, laborers, and craft workers. You will be responsible for organizing work methods, scheduling, cost control, ensuring conformity with drawings and specifications, workmanship, and assigning work to accomplish project execution, either directly or through General Foremen or Foremen. You will also work to maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

Kiewit Energy Canada, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, is a major industrial contractor working on oil & gas facilities, including oilsands processing, steam-assisted gravity drainage, upgrading & refining, midstream facilities, power & co-generation, terminal projects (LNG, LPG), and major mine developments. We also have a Modular Yard in Edmonton, Alberta. Our engineering division offers innovative services in process, piping, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural disciplines, based in Calgary and Houston.

Location

We are primarily seeking superintendents in Edmonton and Calgary, AB. Assignments may be anywhere in Canada. We relocate teams based on project needs and individual development plans, providing a custom-designed career adventure.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop Jr. Superintendents
  • Review and approve labor rates for Foremen, journeymen, and laborers
  • Manage contract administration and communication with subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain good client relations on-site
  • Attend meetings with clients for problem-solving and planning
  • Oversee monthly job cost updates and cash flow projections
  • Review, negotiate, and approve change orders
  • Plan for project completion and turnover
  • Maintain daily records and diaries
  • Ensure timely performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Recommend organizational, policy, or staff changes where appropriate
  • Review and approve or reject promotions up to General Foremen

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of electrical construction experience, including 1+ years in a supervisory/leadership role, preferably on industrial projects (oil/gas, renewable energy, etc.)
  • Self-starter with high motivation and minimal supervision
  • Quick learner of processes, policies, procedures, and software
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership, safety, negotiation, planning, and contract management experience
