Job summary

Kids & Company in Halifax, Nova Scotia is seeking Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to inspire young minds and support children as they grow, learn, and thrive.

Deliver an emergent curriculum, document progress and attendance, support children's development, collaborate with specialists, and ensure health, safety, and licensing compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Nova Scotia ECE license is required.
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required.
• First Aid and CPR Certification (Level B or C) is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an emergent curriculum tailored to each child’s development.
• Maintain accurate daily documentation including progress reports and attendance.
• Support children’s emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioural development in a nurturing environment.
• Collaborate with external professionals as needed (e.g., SLPs, OTs).
• Ensure health, safety and licensing compliance, including classroom ratios.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and classroom transitions.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver an emergent curriculum tailored to each child’s unique development and learning journey
• Maintain accurate daily documentation, including progress reports and attendance records
• Support children’s emotional, cognitive, physical, and behavioural development in a nurturing environment
• Collaborate with external professionals (e.g., Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists) as needed
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations, including classroom ratios
• Participate actively in team meetings, professional development workshops, and classroom transitions

What You Bring

• Valid Nova Scotia ECE License
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
• Valid First Aid and CPR Certification (Level B or C)
• Ability to safely lift, push, or pull up to 45 lbs
