About the role

As ATB’s next Director, Operations you will lead a high-performing operational team that supports the performance of key processes that provide best-in-class service to our clients. You will be responsible to steer vision, set goals, and prioritize efforts to help achieve growth while continually developing and enhancing operational processes. This role collaborates regularly with internal teams and third party service providers to efficiently and effectively run the day to day operational functions of a self clearing dealer.

Accountabilities
  • Oversight of the teams ensuring operational tasks and responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely manner. This includes plan/non plan tax reporting requirements, registered plan processing, estate support and disbursement processes, advisor support functions, corporate actions, Wealth platform support and oversight of clients accounts.
  • Responsible to influence and execute on strategic goals.
  • Identify, develop, and implement effective and efficient process or system improvements in order to strengthen daily core tasks and support business growth.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining an effective internal controls discipline and in achieving strong audit results.
  • Maintain key internal and external partner relationships and open lines of communication with a view to enhancing efficiency and capacity.
  • Ability to steer vision with a focus on the execution of strategy through leadership of a larger and multi-level team.
  • Partner with other leaders, both within Operations and the broader ecosystem to support a variety of strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a diverse team through the lens of the ATB IDs and support the culture at all levels internally and externally.
Skills, experience & requirements
  • Post secondary education preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience, CSC or IFIC certification an asset.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of industry experience with a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • High degree of collaboration skills to partner with stakeholders.
  • Advanced understanding of operational processes and dealer functions.
  • Ability to adapt well in different situations and balance competing projects and priorities, motivating and supporting team members to do the same.
  • Ability to provide timely, constructive feedback, both giving and receiving it openly.
  • Highly organized approach to work and ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information.
  • Very strong understanding of registered and non-registered products, tax reporting and governance (FATCA/QI, CRS, CRA, etc).
  • Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and listening skills.
  • Proficient with technology (hardware and software) including the Google Suite.
