We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Growth and Extensibility pillar. These teams are responsible for core growth and extensibility surfaces across Webflow—including AI Site Builder, pricing infrastructure, the app ecosystem, freelancers and agencies workflows, and our API platform.

- The cash compensation for this role is tailored to align with the cost of labor in different geographic markets. Base pay ranges are organized into zones; the specific base pay within the range will be determined by geographic location, experience, knowledge, qualifications, and skills.
- United States (all figures cited below are in USD and pertain to workers in the United States)
- Zone A: $234,000 - $344,000
- Zone B: $220,000 - $323,000
- Zone C: $206,000 - $302,000
- Canada (figures cited below are in CAD and pertain to workers in ON & BC, Canada)
- $266,000 - $391,000
This role is eligible to participate in Webflow's company-wide bonus program. Target amounts are a percentage of base salary and vary by career level. Payouts are based on company performance against established financial and operational goals.

Reporting
- Reporting to the VP of Engineering
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical leadership by staying close to the codebase and deeply understanding system architecture. You won’t be expected to ship code regularly, but you’ll contribute meaningfully to technical discussions and design reviews.
- Adopt a learning mindset; humility and curiosity are essential for success.
- Lead engineering initiatives across growth and extensibility areas including AI onboarding, growth experiments, extensibility APIs, marketplace development, and subscription infrastructure.
- Drive end-to-end execution of major growth levers such as the AI Site Builder, pricing platform, developer ecosystem, and tools for freelancers and agencies.
- Collaborate with Product to improve monetization, reduce churn, and grow the third-party ecosystem.
- Own cross-functional platform surfaces like the dashboard, onboarding flows, and internal APIs, ensuring cohesive user and developer experiences.
- Set architectural direction for new products, including Designer APIs and the billing platform, balancing scalability with product velocity.
- Foster partnerships with product managers and engineering managers; mentor and support emerging leaders across the organization.
- Maintain velocity and execution quality while investing in long-term health and stability of the core platform.

About you
You’ll thrive as a Director of Engineering, Growth and Extensibility if you:
- Have 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers and scaling multi-team orgs in complex product environments.
- Have 4+ years of hands-on engineering experience building production systems across the stack—APIs, infra, and user-facing features.
- Have led teams owning key business surfaces like pricing infrastructure, onboarding flows, billing systems, or extensibility.
- Have experience driving growth outcomes through experimentation, product-led monetization, or retention-focused work.
- Have built and scaled developer platforms or SDKs, and understand the balance between flexibility and guardrails.
- Have managed distributed teams and know how to build context, trust, and speed across geographies. Understanding how to manage well in a remote-first team is critical for this role.
- Understand how to grow leaders, coach emerging EMs, and run an org that scales with clarity and care.
- Operate with urgency and product intuition, aligning technical work with business impact.
