Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Port Hope, ON is seeking a Dieta ry Aide to support meal service at Hope Street Terrace. This role offers day and evening shifts (7:00am-3:00pm or 2:00pm-8:30pm) with an hourly wage starting at $22.06 per hour.

Reports to the Food Service Manager and contributes to resident-focused care in a long-term care setting. Mandatory enrolled or completed College Level Food Service Worker Program and a current Safe Food Handling Certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of College Level Food Service Worker Program as per Ontario LTC Homes Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.
• Caring heart with a passion for serving residents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team player.
• Ability to work in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled safely, including proper storage and labeling.
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation.
• Executing proper food service in line with guidelines and protocols.
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders.
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room.

Reports to: Food Service Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
