Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide in the Waterloo region. The role involves setting up, preparing, serving and cleaning during meal service under the supervision of the Food Service Manager.

The candidate must have or be enrolled in a College Level Food Service Worker Program and hold a Safe Food Handling Certificate, with strong communication and teamwork skills to support residents’ nutritional care.

Qualifications

• Enrollment/completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program as required by Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.
• Demonstrates a caring heart with a passion for serving others.
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in long-term care.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Status: Part Time Vacancy

Shift: Days - 7:30am-1:30pm

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes’ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
