Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes Inc. is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal setup, preparation, service and cleaning in our Ontario long-term care home. You will work under the Food Service Manager and contribute to safe food handling and resident-focused service.

The role requires enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program and a current Safe Food Handling Certificate. Positive attitude, strong communication, and teamwork are essential in this team-oriented

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program as per Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled safely with proper storage and labeling.
• Assisting cooks with basic food preparation.
• Executing proper food service in line with guidelines and protocols.
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders.
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room.

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a TB Skin Test.
