Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is hiring a Dietary Aide in Ottawa, Ontario. The role supports meal setup, preparation, serving and cleaning in the Home, reporting to the Food Service Manager. The position emphasizes safe food handling and adherence to resident dietary orders.

Ideal candidates have college-level food service program training and a current Safe Food Handling Certificate, with a caring, team-focused attitude and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements.
• It is required to possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Demonstrated caring attitude and passion for serving residents in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, preparation, serving and cleaning for all meal services in the Home.
• Ensure food is handled safely with proper storage and labeling.
• Support cooks with basic food preparation as needed.
• Serve meals according to resident diet orders and guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.

Salary Range: Starting at $20.53 per hour

Position: Dietary Aide

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
  • Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player

  Additional Requirements include

  • A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
  • Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
