Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes provides essential care across Ontario, and the Dietary Aide role supports meal setup, preparation, service and cleanup under the Food Service Manager in the Home.

This part-time position requires enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program and a current Safe Food Handling Certificate, plus strong communication and teamwork for resident meals. The wage is $20.49 per hour, with duties aligning to dietary orders and kitchen/dining room upkeep.

Responsibilities

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
