Job summary

The Dietary Aide at Southbridge Roseview LTC in Thunder Bay, ON assists with setup, service, and cleaning for all meals, supporting cooks and ensuring meals meet resident diet orders.

This casual vacancy requires a College Level Food Service Worker Program enrollment/completion and a Safe Food Handling Certificate, plus strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program as per Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate required.
• Demonstrates caring approach and passion for serving residents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Set up, prepare, serve and clean as part of meal services in the Home.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation and food service.
• Ensure meals are served according to resident diet orders and guidelines.
• Maintain kitchen and dining areas in clean, safe condition.

Position: Dietary Aide

Status: Casual Vacancy

Days (7am-3pm) & Evenings (11am-7pm) & Cleaning shifts (7am-1230pm)

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
