Qualifications

  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge is required.

Job Description:
  • HVAC Refrigerant Loop design release engineer
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • The HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor and A/C lines.
  • The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling and suppliers.
  • Duties will include (not limited to) writing source packages, specifications, requirements, change notices and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables.
  • Candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, support and keep up to date with component bench testing, simulation, drive‑cell and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required.
  • Need to lead virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance.
  • Candidate will also need to support pilot and pre‑production build process at the assembly plant for development and installation of AC line and compressors.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of experience in HVAC compressors and/or A/C line design/development.
  • Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero‑Thermal) also a plus.
  • Very good knowledge about Unigraphics NX and CATIA
  • Strong PC + MS Office skills required.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑starter and motivated to produce results.
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
  • Basic thermodynamics knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in e‑compressors, chillers, EV components are a plus.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
  • Basic knowledge in Thermodynamics.
  • Automotive assembly plant experience.
  • HVAC system engineering knowledge.
  • Previous experience as an AC line design and release engineer.
Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
