ROLE OVERVIEW
The position is responsible for facilitating key Volunteer Services functions and programs including recruitment, training, support, evaluation, recognition, and retention programs with the objective of contributing toward efficient and effective volunteer engagement, safety, and success and development.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Coordinates meetings, interviews, reference checks, first‑day onboarding, training sessions, recognition initiatives, and events.
- Maintains volunteer records (such as criminal record checks, waivers, recognition milestones and other key information) through accurate data entry and file management.
- Tracks and generates reports on volunteer data such as service hours, attrition, scheduling, and qualifications.
- Provides support to volunteers while ensuring strict confidentiality when handling sensitive issues.
- Ensures volunteer training materials and document library are kept up to date by making revisions as new policies and programs are initiated.
- Supports conflict mediation and coaching related to breeches in policy and escalates to the Senior Manager, Education when appropriate.
- Establishes strong rapport with volunteers, employees, and leaders and works collaboratively with other departments.
- Undertakes special assignments or projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, Education.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business, Education, Sciences or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in people or volunteer coordination experience.
- Experience coordinating volunteer programs and initiatives.
- Experience coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, support, evaluation, recognition and retention.
- Knowledge of volunteer resources (recruitment and training, feedback and support & volunteer relations) principles, policies and practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software with strong Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel skills.
- Experience with Better Impact / Volunteer Management Software would be an asset.
- Experience or knowledge in biology, ecology, aquatic sciences or other fields would be an asset.
- Superior oral and written communication.
- Superior conflict management skills.

SALARY RANGE
$22 to $32 per hour
Full‑Time (Tuesday – Saturday)
