Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking staff for casual Food Services positions in the Duncan area. You will prepare meals using a range of cooking techniques following standardized recipes and safety procedures.

Reporting to a manager, you will help ensure quality and safety in food service operations. Qualifications include a 12-month cooking program and Food Safe Level 1, with strong communication and people skills to interact with staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking; a certificate in Food Safe Level 1.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively; physical ability to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare dishes using roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling and baking per standard recipes and department policies.
• Report to Manager or designate and follow established procedures in Food Services Operations.

Job Description

Reporting to the Manager or designate, positions at this level perform a variety of duties within Food Services Operations using a variety of methods/procedures such as roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling and baking following standardized recipes and department policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A certificate in Food Safe Level 1.
