Job description

Certainteed has an exciting career opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Manager based in Ottawa. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

What will you do?

To ensure that the plant has appropriate capabilities and relevant implementation plans to deliver Continuous Improvement Objectives (World Class Manufacturing) to the required standards across all facets of the manufacturing environment. The ability of the CIM to act as a cultural change agent to successfully implement and sustain new initiatives is key.

  • Support the management team in the review of progress and the identification and implementation of countermeasures to ensure the World Class Manufacturing program is achieved.
  • Collect, collate and analyze data to chart progress of the plant against the World Class Manufacturing plan, recommending countermeasures to overcome adverse variances.
  • Ensure communications are fully deployed and answers to questions/points of clarification are looked after on a timely basis to deliver the required understanding and commitment to WCM.
  • Train managers, as required in the approach, tasks and techniques of WCM and review effectiveness of the training.
  • Audit, Coach and support teams to enable them to meet the deadlines of the World Class Manufacturing program milestone plan.
  • Track benefits of the program across the site and report cumulative progress to the local Management Team and Regional WCM Facilitator
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
  • High qualification in a technical degree as the job includes specialist/technical skills. Preferably at the University Engineering Level
  • 7+ years’ experience in a high-volume continuous manufacturing process, in progressive positions from process engineering to manufacturing manager or maintenance manager.
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment.
  • Hands-on style of management
  • Self starter and driven to succeed
  • Outstanding communication skills – willingness to take on change
  • Technical skills
  • Manufacturing process understanding
  • Excellent MS office skills, ie. excel, word, access, etc
  • Teamwork and coaching
