Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team in Alberta. Under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, you will provide safe, thorough basic care and services to residents, supporting their comfort and well-being.

Responsibilities include assisting with transfers, feeding, routine treatments, mobility, and participation in activities. Candidates should have PCA/HCA certification, CLHA registration, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment is preferred.
• Completion of a recognized Personal Care Aide (PCA/HCA 2002 or greater) Certificate Course or Equivalent Education Certificate.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Equipment and PPE.
• Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times.
• Provide routine treatments and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to travel about the facility.
• Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals, including walking with or without aids.
• Assist residents to and from the Beauty Parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation activities.
• Accompany residents to social and therapy functions inside our facility.
