POSITION SUMMARY: Reportingto the Chief Executive Officer or delegate, the Communications Coordinator willlead, develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies to support theinternal and external communications of the hospital.

"1-year Full-time contract with possibility of extension."

POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the President and CEO, aswell as senior leadership team, to ensure communication strategies consistentlysupport the organization’s strategic plan identifying areas where communicationefforts are needed to support initiatives and share news with varied audiences;prepare speaking notes and presentations for senior management and boardmembers.
  • Story Telling :Proactively find, write and communicate TADH patient and organizational storiesto audiences across the organization and at the local and provincial level; continuallyupdate the TADH narrative to ensure it is relevant and resonating with targetaudiences.
  • External communications: Useappropriate strategies to “tell the TADH story” to target audiences at thelocal, provincial and national level; maintain a positive relationship withlocal elected officials, government partners and health and social servicepartners. Lead the development of various reports for public release.
  • Internal communications :Maintain a positive organizational culture, including but not limited to writeand share weekly messaging, coordinatethe development of the monthly President and CEO Report; coordinate newsletterfor all staff; share and coordinate operational communications as required bydepartments; facilitate all staff meetings.
  • TADH Foundation :Maintain a positive working relationship with Foundation staff; identifyopportunities to work closely together, develop a schedule to meet regularly toshare ideas and products that support “telling the story “Of both theFoundation and the Hospital.
  • GovernmentRelations and Partnership Development: Manageand grow strong relationship with local and provincial elected officials,government ministries and valued health and social service partners across thedistrict and province.
  • CrisisCommunications: Manage proactive communication effortswith the goal of trying to avert the need crisis communications, as much aspossible; in the event of a crisis, manage the coordination of communicationstrategies.
  • Website : Optimize the accuracy, design andaccessibility of content, ensuring it is always up to date.
  • Multi-media: Leadthe development, production and dissemination of original content includingvideos, photography and other interactive pieces for use on TADH’s multimediachannels.
  • Social media :Manage TADH social media accounts, ensuring content is compelling and shared on aconsistent basis.
  • Media :Coordinate media relations and prepare TADH staff for media interviews to helpbolster proactive storytelling; act as a first point of contact for all publicand media inquiries; research, write and disseminate mediareleases/advisories/alerts, public service announcements; read and track TADHmedia stories and follow up to correct inaccuracies and inconsistencies;accompany media when on TADH property to ensure patient privacy is not violatedand TADH media policies are adhered too.
  • Visual Identity: Ensure all corporate materials are consistent with visual identity standardsand satisfy the French Language Services requirements of the hospital;participate in the marketing and branding of hospital events and activities(e.g. annual general meeting, community engagement forums, employee recognitioncelebrations, fundraising initiatives, conferences).
  • Represent the hospital on various committees and in meetings asrequired.
  • Perform other duties as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree/Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations,Journalism, or related field .orrelevant experience working in the Communications field.
  • Demonstrated superior creativity and analytical abilities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the creative process in a corporateenvironment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of online platforms and analytics, andways to apply them to communications strategies.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of hospital accountability requirements.
  • Ability to work independently identify issues, plan improvements,measure success and continue improvement.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Officesoftware, e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook,
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, diversified workloadand rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
  • Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidentialinformation.
