Job summary

Vision Group in Kingston, ON is seeking a Clinical / Surgical Assistant to support LASIK MD clinics. This part-time role involves preparing the operating room and tools, assisting the surgeon, and ensuring patient comfort in a collaborative team setting.

The ideal candidate communicates well in English, is detail-oriented, and comfortable with technology including Microsoft 365. Occasional deployment to partner LASIK MD clinics in ON is required; scheduling varies by need.

Qualifications

• Excellent English communication.
• Willingness to support LASIK MD clinics in Ontario.
• Flexible schedule with Wednesday 12:00–20:00 and Thursday/Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the room and tools for intraocular procedures.
• Support and reassure patients as needed.
• Coordinate and assist each ophthalmology intervention as part of a team.
• Cross-train in other OR roles and receptionist duties.
• Identify and report patient safety concerns to clinic management.

The wage range for this role is $23.73 - $25.22/hr

Your tasks at a glance

• You will become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
• You are the person the surgeon relies on to prepare the room and its tools before the procedures.
• You always find the right words to support and reassure the patient if necessary.
• You thrive in a team environment and know by heart the actions to take to coordinate and support each intervention.
• You are comfortable working on your feet in the operating room.
• You are a stickler for details and work with precision and accuracy.
• You will be cross-trained in other technical roles within the operating room and in Receptionist duties.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

• Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).
• Required: You have the willingness to occasionally help out our partnering LASIK MD clinics in the ON region (planning & expenses covered by Vision Group).
• Schedule: You have flexible availability to work on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursdays & Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
