Job summary

LASIK MD is seeking a Surgical Assistant in Kingston, ON to join an ophthalmology team. You will help prepare the operating room and tools for intraocular procedures, support surgeons, and reassure patients with clear communication. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and flexibility to cross-train in other OR and receptionist duties.

You will collaborate with ophthalmology experts and benefit from a stable, partialPT schedule with opportunities across partner clinics in Ontario.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in English are required.
• Comfort with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365; EMR systems are an asset.
• Experience in the healthcare field is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
• Prepare the room and its tools before procedures as the surgeon relies on you.
• Support and reassure patients with clear communication.
• Coordinate and support each intervention in a team environment.
• Work on your feet in the operating room with precision and accuracy.
• Cross-trained in other technical roles within the operating room and in Receptionist duties.
• Support Risk Management by identifying patient safety concerns and reporting them promptly.

The wage range for this role is $23.73 - $25.22/hr

• Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.)
• Required: You have the willingness to occasionally help out our partnering LASIK MD clinics in the ON region (planning & expenses covered by Vision Group).
• Schedule: You have flexible availability to work on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursdays & Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
