Job summary

LASIK MD, part of Vision Group, seeks a Surgical Assistant in Dieppe, NB to support ophthalmology procedures. You will prep the OR, coordinate intraoperative actions, and learn intraocular tools while working with a skilled team. Fluency in English and French is required, with a strong attention to detail and comfort in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in health care is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French are required.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft 365; EMR systems knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the ophthalmologist and anticipate actions while following protocols.
• Coordinate each intervention as part of the team.
• Prepare the operating room and tools before procedures.
• Become a specialist in tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
• Stand and work on feet in the operating room.
• Pay close attention to detail and maintain accuracy.

Your tasks at a glance

• You work closely with the ophthalmologist; you anticipate their actions while following protocols.
• You like working in a team and know by heart the actions to take to coordinate each intervention.
• You are the person the surgeon relies on to prepare the room and its tools before the procedure.
• You will become a specialist in the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
• You are comfortable working on your feet in the operating room.

• Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: optometric assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, etc.).
• You have excellent communication skills, you speak English et français également (advanced intermediate level of French required due to the nature of the tasks or interactions with our French-speaking patients).
• Schedule: You are available to work Monday to Friday from 7:00 am until the end of the surgery schedule.
