Job summary

Vision Group, via a LASIK MD clinic in Winnipeg, MB, seeks a Clinical Assistant for a temporary 17-month contract. The role supports pre- and post-operative ophthalmic care, maintains patient charts, and answers patient questions.

You will work with ophthalmology experts in a fast-paced setting, with in-house training and a teamwork-driven environment. Schedule is approx. 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday with Saturdays on rotation.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with computers and technology, including Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist during pre-operative exams and fill the patient charts accurately.
  • Answer patients' questions and ensure the best service.
  • Work closely with Optometrists.
  • Conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
  • Update the appointment system after every patient’s consultation.
  • Schedule and confirm post-operative appointments by telephone.
  • Support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and reporting patient safety concerns.

Your tasks at a glance
  • You assist during the pre-op exams and fill the patient’s charts accurately.

A clear view of your assets
  • You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
  • You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • You find it easy to connect with others and quickly build trust.
  • Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: medical assistant, physiotherapy assistant, optometry assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, veterinary assistant, etc.).
  • You are looking for a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where your ability to work in a team and excel at multi-tasking will be an asset.
  • Schedule: You have flexibility to work between Monday and Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with rotational Saturdays 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, for a total of approx. 24 hours p/week (3-4 days a week).
