Job description
Overview

We are a Toronto-based company on a roll. A fast-paced, founder-led company, we offer the world’s leading climate financial risk technology and we’re looking to scale. We want a star who will drive the financial health of the company, as fast as our climate and data scientists drive our products. It’s about innovation, imagination and skill. It’s about leadership, executive presence, strategic thinking and passion for doing something meaningful in a world which is going downhill.

We’re a blue-chip startup, and we need a blue-chip CFO who can speak to investors and motivate them to be part of our team. We want investors to know our finances are managed as well as the software and data we produce, and that we are future-proofed and stable. We want someone who can do for us what Sarah Friar did for Square.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the financial health of the company and scale with the organization.
  • Engage with investors, venture capital firms, and blue-chip partners to communicate our value and secure support.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team; communicate effectively with internal teams including marketing.
  • Understand and articulate the benefits of our technology, a platform model, and the full production cost flow.
  • Influence product direction by deeply understanding our processes and the technology.
  • Represent the company with clarity and build a strong, collaborative finance function.
  • Monitor market developments, assess competitors and potential partnerships, and help plan strategic growth.
Qualifications
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to recognize the technical benefits of products and a platform business model.
  • Experience communicating with investors and capital partners; ability to articulate financial strategy and future-proofing plans.
  • Strong collaboration skills: able to work closely with the CEO, executive team, and marketing, and to influence across the organization.
  • Comfort with technology concepts, curiosity to ask questions, and a results-oriented, bulldog-like persistence to understand core product value.
  • Team-oriented with a passion for working with inventors, technologists, scientists, and data engineers.
Company

We have blue-chip partners including Bloomberg and Bank of New York Mellon, among others, and our products are starting to raise eyebrows.
