A regional education center in Nova Scotia is hiring Educational Assistants for 5.5 hours per day. Responsibilities include supporting students with personal care needs, ensuring safety, and providing supervision during various school activities. Candidates must possess a Human Services diploma or equivalent, be trained in CPR and First Aid, and have specific health-care support training. This position offers starting wages of $24.59 for fully qualified and $17.66 for partially qualified assistants, in accordance with local union agreements.

Educational Assistant 1 - Fully Qualified - $24.59 per hour
Educational Assistant 2 - Partially Qualified - $17.66 per hour
Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 73 Bargaining Unit at avrce.ca.
Educational Assistants provide support to students who are identified through the program planning process as requiring support with medical and personal care and/or safety/behavior management.
Educational Assistants may be required to accompany students or to provide transportation to students to and from school via school bus, taxi, or private vehicle in compliance with Board policy and procedures.
Educational Assistants are also expected to develop and maintain positive rapport with students.
