Job summary

AdventHealth in Riverview, FL is seeking a Surgical Tech to support sterile technique, instrumentation, and patient safety during operative procedures. You will prepare sterile tables, assist the surgeon, perform counts, drape, pass instruments, and ensure room readiness.

The role requires BLS and CST/NCCT/NBSTSA certification; 2+ years of experience preferred. Competitive benefits and sign-on incentives are available.

• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup required
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques required
• Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team required
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit required
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties preferred

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Prepares scrubs, gowns, and gloves for procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications needed.
• Performs counts with circulator prior to incision and before closing.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists team with terminal cleaning and prep for next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with accuracy.
• Recognizes emergencies and responds appropriately.
• Drapes sterile field and passes instruments during procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
