Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Labor & Delivery, with cross-training for unit secretary duties including admitting, scheduling, and registrar tasks. You will support the perioperative team, prepare sterile fields, and assist with specimens and inventory under RN supervision.

Requirements include an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent, NBSTSA/NCCT certification, BLS, and a high school diploma. Excellent teamwork and patient care are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or equivalent military/hospital-based training.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC, and high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical support in the perioperative period under RN supervision.
• Prepare equipment, instruments, and sterile field for procedures.
• Coordinate preparation or disposal of specimens and assist in inventory.
• Assist with patient transport as needed.

Position Description: Surgical Technologist – Labor & Delivery

This Surgical Technologist role in Labor & Delivery will be cross trained to unit secretary and trained on admitting, scheduling, and registrar duties in addition to surgical technologist skills.

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Details

Location: St Josephs Womens

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:45pm - 7:15am

Weekend Work: Every Other

On Call: No

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
